Let's Get Disaster Ready Irvine!
The recent wildfires in LA have highlighted the urgent need for emergency preparedness. Record low rainfall, Santa Ana winds, and warming temperatures—fueled by climate change—have contributed to devastating disasters.
Join the Let's Get Disaster Ready community zoom meetings will provide resources and tools to take proactive steps to protect yourselves, your families, and your community. By preparing or updating your emergency plans and kits, and fostering neighborly connections, we can build resilience and face emergencies together.
- Kickoff Zoom (January 22, 2025, at 6:30 P.M.): This session introduces resources and tools to create/update emergency plans and kits.
- Follow-up Zoom (February 05, 2025, at 6:30 P.M.): Community sharing of our progress, discuss experiences, and reflect on lessons learned.

We're excited to announced the launch of the Cool OC Book Club where we'll read "cool" books! Our first read will be What If We Get It Right? by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, a book rooted in climate optimism and climate solutions. Through essays, poetry, and conversations, Johnson brings together voices that image hopeful visions of our climate future. We'll meet weekly for about 5 weeks. Register below to join.
